If your computer is compromised with a trojan or other malware, only the contents of your home folder are vulnerable if the malware is running under a non-admin account. The other thing you can do to is save your admin account for tasks that really need it (there are very few of them.) Use a non-admin account for your day-to-day work. If you keep sensitive data in your computer like financial records make sure that they are encrypted. Choose a good password that is hard to guess. Other than that, ensure your firewall is on and all ports closed except for ones you intend to use. I wouldn't install it on my Mac if I was paid to.
